How Cell Phones Work

Cell phones use microwave energy to transmit calls and data back and forth between phones and towers. The energy frequencies used in microwave ovens are the same as those used to transmit information through the mobile networks.

A field of energy surrounds every cell phone when it is powered on. This field increases when the phone is on a call or transmitting information such as a text message, image, or internet data.

To maintain signal strength, cell phones emit pulses of microwave energy many times every minute. Using this energy, your cell phone acts like a beacon or signal marker for your location relative to the towers in your area. The phone works harder to maintain the connection when the signal is low, emitting higher levels of radiation.

Depending on the phone, network, and signal strength, these pulses can occur many times per minute, up to several times per second.

The area of the head directly in front of the phone’s earpiece, shown in red, is exposed to radiation at a constant rate, during and between pulses. This radiation penetrates into the inner ear and through the skull when the phone is placed to the head.

Radiation enters the inner ear and is absorbed by the brain tissue, heating it slightly and interfering with the electrical activity of the brain. The energy also cause disruptions in genetic expression and mutates DNA, which is a cancer precursor.

 


 

Specific Absorption Rate

Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR, measures the amount of radiation absorbed into the body from an electrical device. It is measured in watts per kilogram.

The Federal Communications Commission has set the maximum level of radiation absorbed by cellular phones at 1.6 watts per kilogram.

Because it is a direct opening to the inside of the head, the ear and surrounding area have the highest absorption rate in the body, and is also where we hold cell phones to our bodies.

Due to the progress in mobile network technology, the majority of cell phones made today exceed the absorption limits set by the FCC. The mobile phone lobby continues to push for higher SAR limits so the industry can increase the strength of their networks and build more powerful phones.

As mobile phones become more powerful, the absorption rates continue to rise and the risks continue to grow.

The images below are taken from a study conducted in 1996 by Dr. Om Gandhi, Electrical Engineering Department Chair at the University of Utah.

Dr. Gandhi measured a 420% increase in the absorption rate of radiation into children’s heads compared to that of an adult, and over 1000% increases in penetration to the eye lens and connective tissue.

The measurements of the adult exceed national safety limits by 183% as set by the Federal Communications Commission.

The measurements of the 10 and 5 year-olds exceed national safety limits by 200% and 281% respectively.

It is important to note that these measurements were taken before the introduction of smartphones and high-powered digital networks. Today, absorption rates are much higher in many cases due to the increased power of modern mobile networks.

 


 

The Blood-Brain Barrier

The human brain is surrounded by a layer of specialized cells which act as a barrier between your brain and the contents of your bloodstream. This barrier prevents toxins from reaching your brain and maintains a healthy environment for brain tissue.

Microwave radiation weakens the blood-brain barrier and inhibits its ability to function. When the blood-brain barrier is weak, toxins and other substances pass through from the blood into the brain, at which point it is difficult or impossible for your body to get them out.

A sure sign that the blood-brain barrier has failed is the presence of albumin in the brain. Albumin is a blood protein which is blocked by the blood-brain barrier when it is fully functioning, but which passes into the brain when the barrier fails.

It is important to understand that albumin and other proteins move across the blood-brain barrier in the presence of cell phone radiation. Albumin is deadly to brain cells and can transport other harmful molecules into the brain with it.

The brown discolorations indicate lasting protein and toxin buildups in the brain tissue.

Further research has described this brain damage through the adverse effects of cell phone radiation on human health.

For example, difficulty sleeping and hormonal imbalances are a result of damage to the hypothalamus. Dizziness, memory problems, and loss of concentration are a result of damage to the hippocampus. These studies confirm and connect the links between brain tissue damage, adverse health, and cell phone radiation exposure.

 


 

Dr. Vini Khurana, one of Australia’s best neurosurgeons, has stated that cell phones may be “a greater threat to human health than smoking.”

Dr. Leif Salford, neurosurgeon at Sweden’s Lund University, has called cell phones “the largest biological experiment in the history of the world.”

After over two decades of research, the number of studies confirming the dangers of cell phone radiation is now in the hundreds and comes from diverse sources, including national institutes of science, cancer research hospitals, and the World Health Organization.
